20th Annual Dallas Kosher Chili Cook-off Sponsored by Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt
DALLAS, TEXAS—Entering its 20th year, the 20th Annual Dallas Kosher Chili Cook-off charity fundraiser will again be working with its premier national sponsor Cargill, maker of the uniquely manufactured Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt. Diamond Crystal, based in St. Clair Michigan, is benefiting the cook-off with a material sponsorship, including donation of Diamond Crystal kosher culinary salt to be used by the competing teams.
“We are extraordinarily pleased to again have the support of Diamond Crystal for our Dallas cook-off event,” said Rabbi Shawn Zell, rabbi of Tiferet Israel, the traditional congregation hosting the March 10, 2013 event.
The Kosher Chili Cook-off is a community gathering created in 1993 by several Tiferet Israel members to raise funds for the congregation and local charities. The first cook-off in 1994 showcased 10 teams; the 20th Kosher Chili Cook-off will have 50 plus teams and attract more than 4,000 attendees from Texas and beyond, making it both the oldest and largest Kosher Chili Cook-off of its kind. One of the lasting traditions of the Dallas Kosher Chili Cook-off has been to honor through contributions from the proceeds of the cook-off event, charitable organizations in the Dallas community. For the 20th Annual Kosher Chili Cook-off, being held on March 10 at Congregation Tiferet Israel, we are pleased to honor 3 organizations; The Dallas Jewish Historical Society, Moishe House – Dallas Branch, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association Dallas Metro ALS Division. The tradition of the Dallas Kosher Chili Cook-Off (http://kosherchilicookoff.us/) has been sharing for others while enjoying the event. A part of this tradition, that we are honored to continue in the 20th Annual Kosher Chili Cook-Off on March 10, has been our participation in a Food Drive. The Food Drive is being jointly sponsored by Jewish Family Service (JFS) (http://www.jfsdallas.org/emergency) food pantry, an affiliate of the North Texas Food Bank, Congregation Tiferet Israel, who are sponsors of the Dallas Kosher Chili Cook-Off, and Royal Lane Baptist Church.
